I discovered Kimberly Rae Jordan in 2017 having read This Time With Love and I’ve enjoyed reading her different series and stand-alone books. I’m really enjoying her current New Hope Falls series and I’m eagerly awaiting Leah’s story (a lesson in patience).
I thought it would be fun to share my 5 current favorites of her books (to date) as with more releases this will probably need to be updated. It was hard to narrow the list down as the books are all really good but here we go!
#1 When He Returns
#10 in The Callaghans & McFadden Series
Dalton returns in this book and his story concluded what is a truly fantastic series of The Callaghan & McFadden family. What makes the story even more special to me is that Dalton falls in love with Sierra who we were introduced to in book 1. Sierra has been a part of the family being Ethan’s sister and Danica’s best friend so it therefore gave a full circle effect to the series. I enjoyed seeing Dalton and Sierra relate and become good friends as adults.
It was good to see too that Sierra was the one who became a source of inspiration for Dalton to start writing again after he returned. A key point that stood out to me in this story was to be careful not to let fear prevent you from having what you really want.
#2 A Heart Renewed
#4 in the New Hope Falls Series
Kimberly’s newest book narrowly beats out Sarah’s story in this series for me. Both Carter and Jillian have difficult pasts to put it mildly. Delving into their unique circumstances added more layers and depths to the story. I began rooting for them and Jillian especially to be able to overcome her circumstances and begin to consider a relationship with Carter.
I liked too that the book highlighted the role of friendship in both Jillian and Carter’s lives as they both had good friends who genuinely cared for them and supported them through the tough times.
#3 Worth the Wait
#2 in Those Karlsson Boys Series
I think Serena is my favorite character in this series so it really was no surprise that this book was my favorite as I was definitely rooting for her to have her “happily ever after”. Serena is such a sweet loyal person with a heart of gold. I grew to like her more as the story developed and I learnt more about her past and how she became the Serena that we meet in this book.
Overall, I think the story is a great reminder that our God offers second chances and He can take our messes and make transform them into something beautiful. It made me think of this song.
#4 Signs of Love
#2 in the BlackThorpe Security Series
I read this book around the time that I was learning more about sign language so it definitely stood out to me at that time. However, the connection between Caden and Justin early in the story helped to hook me quite early on as it began to reveal a softer side of Justin.
Also, Alana and Caden’s relationship is really sweet. Alana embraces the unique challenges presented due to Caden being deaf and always puts him first. She then takes it a step further by helping other parents and families with deaf children. Alana’s desire to help is the reason she meets Justin so it’s awesome to see their relationship grow slowly but steadily as the book develops.
#5 Coming Home
#6 in Home to Collingsworth Series
Lily is the final sibling whose story is shared in the Collingsworth series. With Lily leaving earlier in the series, it left questions about what happened to her as she left so abruptly. I, therefore, looked forward to learning about Lily’s time away from Collingsworth and understanding the reason why she had broken up with Nate. This book certainly did not disappoint and I enjoyed seeing how Lily’s relationships with her sisters adapted to the new circumstances uncovered in this story. Also, I was happy to see Lily develop a close friendship with Amy as she was also one of my favorite characters in this series.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But thee greatest of these is love. 1 Cor 13: 13 (NIV)
